Therapy for Athletes

Support for the person behind the performance

Sports can give us confidence, friendship, and a sense of who we are. They can also bring pressure that’s hard to talk about: the fear of letting people down, the frustration of an injury, the burnout that creeps in when the game stops feeling like yours.

I grew up playing competitive soccer and basketball and later coached soccer, so I know that world from the inside. Today I work with teen and adult athletes who want to feel steadier, both in their sport and in the rest of their lives.

What we can work on

  • Performance pressure and anxiety

  • Injury, recovery, and time away from the game

  • Burnout and losing the love of the sport

  • Confidence and self-criticism

  • Identity beyond the sport, including transitions and retirement

  • Balancing sport, school, family, and relationships

How I work
My approach is grounded and down to earth. I draw on mindfulness, body-based (somatic) work, and Internal Family Systems to help athletes understand the different parts of themselves, like the driven competitor and the part that’s exhausted or afraid. For teen athletes, I’m happy to include parents when it helps.
